The number describes acidity
pH describes how acidic or alkaline something is. It is not a measure of how strong a topical feels, how much CBD it contains, or how quickly a person recovers after sport. Those questions involve different measurements. Treating one small number as a score for the entire product makes a simple label seem more informative than it really is.
Skin has its own context
Research measuring skin surface pH has found an acidic surface on average, and measurements can change with conditions and recent washing. That does not produce a single magic number every person or product must match. We are not assigning a pH to Cannabolix without a measured specification for its finished formula.
Ask a useful formula question
If pH is part of a product claim, ask what was measured and under what conditions. Do not add household acids or bases to adjust a gel yourself. The bottle is a finished formula, not a chemistry project. For everyday use, follow its directions rather than using a pH slogan to decide application amounts. A better understanding of the number should make the claim easier to evaluate, not give you another reason to experiment on your skin.
