A Short Session Needs a Priority, Not a Speed Record

Less time changes the planning question

You have less time than expected for a planned session. The tempting response is to do everything faster. Instead, ask which parts are essential to the purpose and which can move to another day. If you follow a coached plan, get guidance on how to shorten it rather than deleting instructions that were there for a reason.

Do not hide the change

Mark the session as shortened and record what you actually completed. Keep prescribed preparation and safety instructions intact. A smaller honest record is more useful than the original plan with a check mark beside work you did not do. Avoid treating every unfinished item as a debt that must be squeezed into the next visit.

Use a backup version next time

Ask your coach whether the plan can include a short version for days when the calendar changes. Having that option ready removes some last-minute guessing. It should still suit your needs, not simply be the long session with every pause removed. A useful short session has a clear priority and a clear endpoint. The stopwatch can describe the time available without being allowed to write the exercise instructions.
