The bottle is not a mixing bowl
A gel feels thick, so you consider adding water. Or you want a stronger scent and reach for an essential oil. Either change creates a mixture the original directions did not describe. A finished topical is not a starting kit for a homemade recipe. If the texture seems wrong, ask the manufacturer rather than trying to repair it in the bathroom.
Water changes more than the feel
FDA guidance on cosmetic safety warns against adding water to products because it can introduce microorganisms and dilute preservatives. That is general formulation guidance, not a statement about which preservative Cannabolix uses. The important point is that changing a formula can affect more than how easily it spreads. A familiar ingredient from your kitchen does not make an untested mixture equivalent to the original product.
Take the useful troubleshooting route
Keep the product in its original container. Note when you first noticed the change and photograph the bottle and any lot information. Contact the brand with those details and follow its instructions. Do not keep using something that appears spoiled or causes a reaction. For Cannabolix, use the finished product as directed; do not add oils, water, or another topical. Save the creative mixing for a recipe that is actually meant to be mixed.
