Shadowboxing: Give Each Round One Job

Start with a skill

For a coach-led shadowboxing session, ask what you are practicing before starting the timer. It might be remembering a combination, noticing your stance, or returning your hands to the position your coach teaches. Pick one focus you can describe in a short sentence.

Avoid the everything round

Trying to fix speed, movement, guard, and combinations at once can make it hard to remember the original task. Keep the round tied to the lesson. This is an attention strategy, not a prescription for round length or exercise intensity.

Use the break for feedback

After the round, name one thing you noticed and ask for a specific correction. Take that cue into the next round. A useful practice session gives you something to work on next time, even when it does not look like a movie montage.
